Besides the usual rules below for the 2021 Season will be playing under the following modifications:
Game Modifications:
● Player Interaction
o Players should refrain from picking up another player by hand if a player has fallen
to the court surface. (Unless deemed necessary to help player off court due to
injury).
o Players will refrain from huddling as a team prior to, during, or following free
throws or other game situations.
o The postgame handshake is suspended.
● Roster and Participation Limits
● Game time and time outs
o 16-minute games with a 90 second halftime. (no shooting or use of hoops during
half time)
o Each team will be allowed 2 full and 2 20 second time outs. No more then 3 in a
half.
o In an effort to keep games on time if either team has a lead of more then 15 points
with 3 minutes remaining the clock will run. If it gets under 15 it will stop.
● Jump Ball
o The jump ball will be eliminated to start the game and replaced with a throw-in at
the division line.
o The Away team by designation of the schedule will get the first possession.
o The Home team retain the A-P arrow even if they secure possession on the initial
throw-in.
o To start an overtime period, a coin toss will be used (visiting team calls) to
determine which team is awarded the ball. The A-P arrow will be set to the
opposing team in the same manner as to start the game.
● Substitution process
o One player reports to the scorer’s table when a team intends to substitute.
Multiple substitutions can be made. When the horn sounds, players must enter
through the scorer’s table and use hand sanitizer ( supplied by coach) .
o Players must use hand sanitizer when entering or exiting the court at any time
● Free throw situations
o To limit congestion and contact, free throw lanes will be limited to 3 players plus
the shooter. This will include 2 defensive players and 1 offensive player, Plus
shooter.
● End of game foul
o In order to avoid unnecessary contact while managing time at the end of the
game, a team representative will notify the official if they are planning to foul a
player receiving the inbounds pass; once the defensive player lightly tags the
receiving offensive player the official will stop the play and administer a foul.
● Quick whistle for a loose ball/tie up
o Point of emphasis – officials will quickly stop play/whistle during a loose ball/tie
up between players in order to limit close contact. The A-P arrow will be used as
normal.
● Inbound Play/Throw in
o On all throw-in/inbound plays, the defender will maintain a distance of 6 feet from
the player inbounding the ball. Baseline throw-in from either baseline is allowed.
All Grades
Overtime, if necessary will be 3 minutes. Continue playing 3-minute Overtimes until one team wins.
All players should play equal time, including any overtime periods.
If you have fewer than 10 players, spread the extra time out as best as you can. A single player should not pick up all the additional minutes.
If you intend to play a player less than half the game because of disciplinary reasons (i.e. not showing up to practice), make the opposing coaches aware before the start of the game. Note: Rewarding a player for working hard at practice at the expense of another play who has been at all the practices is not in the spirit of In-Town NBBA play.
Players are disqualified after 5 personal fouls.
A player is also disqualified after 2 technical fouls. However, coaches should strongly consider sitting for the remainder of the game, any player who receives a technical foul for unsportsmanlike conduct.
If a player or coach is ejected from a game for whatever reason, that player/coach is automatically suspended for the next game.
Each team will be allotted three (3) timeouts per game (max two per half) and one timeout in overtime. Unused timeouts are not carried over to overtime.
