NBBA MISSION STATEMENT
With a range of instructional, competitive travel, and equal playing time in-town leagues that highlight physical activity, fair play, and skill development, the Newburyport Boys Basketball Association offers boys in grades 1 through 12 living or attending school in Newburyport the opportunity to become better basketball players, teammates, and citizens of the community. (Adopted by the NBBA board on September 6 2018.)
CAPE ANN & EASTERN LEAGUE (Travel)
The Cape Ann League, for boys in grades 4 through 8, plays competitive basketball against other teams in the Cape Ann League, with team selections based on an open and balanced selection process.
IN-TOWN LEAGUE
The In-Town League, for boys in grades 5 through 8, plays competitive basketball in the city by creating teams of equal talent and requires equal playing time for all players.
DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE
The Developmental League (D-League), for boys in grades 3 and 4, introduces boys to basketball by teaching the fundamentals and offering structured games. The intent of the NBBA is to develop all players by keeping them interested in basketball for many years, recognizing that boys vary in their speed of development.
